The video review (Spanish)

What I liked most about the Rlaarlo X12S was starting with good control without first replacing transmitter and receiver. After considerable Wltoys 124017 use, this buggy felt more forgiving on dirt and asphalt.

What I Found on Opening

Mine included a 3S XT60 battery, transmitter, USB charger, wing to fit, differential seals and extra pinion. I neither confirm its tooth count nor compare speeds with it installed.

Hex screws, adjustable motor mount, metal slipper and receiver box caught my attention. The differentials have seals, and the car offers anti-roll bars and suspension travel-limit screws.

Different front/rear differential resistance is noticeable when moving the wheels. That is an interesting driving starting point, without measuring the silicone viscosity inside.

I Liked the Stock Transmitter

It is small, light and comfortable. Modulating throttle and correcting direction felt easy. Trim needed finishing, but I felt no immediate need to replace the radio.

The video compares my 124017 experience, rather than measuring latency or testing both under identical conditions.

The X12S was easy on dirt and allowed repeated asphalt runs without constantly trying to turn sideways. That mattered more than maximum speed.

Battery Used for the Speed Test

Importantly, the original battery was charging, so I used another 3S pack. Its longer cable made routing less tidy, as shown.

I read 78 km/h from the GPS. That belongs to this outing, battery, tyres and space; it is neither guaranteed for every pack nor measured with the included battery.

I speculated about more speed with gearing changes, but did not perform that comparison, so it is not a demonstrated result.

Changing Gearing Requires the Right Parts

The adjustable mount allows pinion changes, and the description links Surpass Hobby pinions I had used. Check module, shaft diameter, tooth count and clearance.

Do not assume every option in a multi-pinion listing is correct. I add no specific ratio that the video does not clearly identify.

My Verdict

Control, transmitter and construction details convinced me. It was not my fastest car, but was pleasant and easy to use, just what I wanted from a compact buggy.

Parts diagrams and manufacturer references are useful, without guaranteeing today’s stock. Check the exact reference when ordering.

  1. Rlaarlo X12S

Check version and package contents. The review uses another 3S battery for its speed test.

  2. Surpass Hobby Pinions Cited for the X12S

Select suitable module, tooth count and shaft diameter. The review identifies no universal variant and does not measure the included extra pinion's effect.
