This was my second airbrushed body and my first attempt at a more complex pattern. Vallejo supplied the airbrush and some paints; I added other colours and started work on a Tamiya Raikiri.

Preparing the Body and Design

I cleaned and dried the body, then drew outside the pattern I wanted to see: pink and blue sections separated by white squares.

A ruler helped maintain the lines, and reference colours identified each section. Paint goes inside; the outside drawing guides the internal masking.

Choosing the Masking Method

I had tried brush-applied liquid mask but found it awkward in earlier attempts. For this design I used tape and prepared the areas patiently.

That was my choice for this job, not a complete comparison of every method. Where masking was imperfect, the result shows small colour bleeds.

Paint Order Created Extra Work

I began with the white squares, then realised the sequence was poorly planned. I continued with the other sections and finished with white backing inside to bring out the colours.

That improvisation is not a universal layer recipe. Plan what will be visible through each area and follow the paint instructions for your body’s material.

The recording also shows a final black backing. Its visual effect depends on previous layers; adding it does not guarantee finish durability.

Unmasking and Seeing the Result

I removed tape and exterior film, applied the stickers I wanted and fitted the wing. Revealing the clean exterior design after all that masking was the most rewarding part.

Small mistakes remained, but I was much happier than expected. This is not a professional painting class: it shows what I achieved with limited experience and what I would improve next time.

Vallejo Equipment and Unconfirmed References

The description contained the same Amazon URL for the paint set and airbrush. It remains under review in the manager, rather than being presented as two separate purchases before identifying the correct item.
