The video review (Spanish)
The Traxxas X-Maxx was a car I really wanted. I enjoyed its size and skatepark spectacle, but eventually sold it. This video explains why it stopped suiting me after actual use.
Size Is Enjoyed and Transported
Mine was an 8S X-Maxx using two batteries. Seeing it move was impressive, but transport took substantial space and complicated organising other equipment.
Size alone did not cause the sale; I knew it was large. Tyre experience ultimately mattered more.
Two Behaviours with Two Tyre Sets
My used car was not the version with original belted tyres. The previous owner had added another reinforced set.
Those tyres suffered fewer failures, but made airborne corrections much harder for me. With the originals, throttle and brake reactions suited my jumping preferences.
This concerns the sets used on my car. It proves neither that all belted tyres behave identically nor that a single wheel characteristic explains everything.
Repeated Breakage Costs
The tyres giving my preferred feel began tearing and coming loose. I repaired and replaced several wheels, checking glue and inserts, and became tired of repeated expense.
The video mentions other well-reviewed options, but I never tried them on the X-Maxx. They are not verified solutions to my problem.
What I Wanted from This Car
I wanted jumps and throttle/brake attitude control like my Maxx, on a larger scale. Choosing between preferred behaviour and repeated failures reduced enjoyment.
Other uses may suit the X-Maxx very well. My decision does not evaluate every setup or terrain; it explains selling this car after my experience.
Keeping the Good Memories
I still consider it spectacular. Driving footage shows why I liked it and the context behind selling.
This differs from my Traxxas UDR experience, sold for other reasons. The X-Maxx has its own page; it is not the Maxx and does not replace that review.
